Thesis or dissertation is a document written as requirement in order to graduate from Masteral Degree or Doctoral Degree. It is a paper that something is trying to prove through research and study. It is also known as a claim or argument.
Thesis Oral Defense is done in order to defend your thesis work and evaluated by the examining committee. This is to make sure that the researcher can present his work properly with full understanding.
Here are some guidelines in the preparation of thesis defense:
- Make sure that you wear the proper attire for the presentation.
- Question from the examining committee is based on your presentation.
- Know the details of the key studies as basis on your investigation.
- Be prepared to your thesis presentation by being well rested and focused before the thesis defense.
- Be familiar with the basic assumptions, theoretical framework, paradigm, procedures and methods and among others.
- You should have deep understanding of the nature of your research problem as well as the major issues involved.
- Do not forget to bring important materials suchs as computer print out of results, references, and articles related to your studies.
- Do not speak in jargon words, keep word simple to be able to understand by the examining committee. Use simple and concise language.
- Remember that your presentation is evaluated based on the content as well as clearness.
- Prepare hand outs or power point. It includes the overview or outline of your presentation such as the introduction, ,methods, results, discussion, etc.
- During presentation, do not spend too much time on one section.
